Faecal sludge treatment using the Pyrolysis Omni Processors across India’s peri-urban areas.

A whopping two-thirds of India’s household toilets are not connected to a sewer system.

Although well recognised, the issue continues to plague millions of lives in India, especially from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, many in the peri-urban regions that rely solely on on-site systems of faecal sludge management.

Implementing the tested and proven solutions to the problems of open and unhygienic defecation, as well as faecal sludge management, are the need of the hour.

The Pyrolysis Omni Processor or P-OP were one such game-changing solution that’s based on decentralized faecal sludge treatment.

Successfully piloted across peri-urban Telangana and Karnataka, Pyrolysis Omni Processors have demonstrated encouraging outcomes, with their installation ease and working capabilities with reasonable maintenance conditions.

Dasra, in collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation embarked on a mission to build greater awareness, understanding and hence adoption of Pyrolysis Omni Processors across many more regions of our country.

This required engaging with the municipalities and local bodies, and providing them with the right information on the Pyrolysis Omni Processors so that they too could implement, especially for the benefit of the underserved communities living in their localities – by getting everyone onboard, administration as well as the communities.

How do we explain to a audience, the mechanics behind the Pyrolysis Omni Processor technology and how it worked How do we walkthrough the USPs and relatable benefits, and other key aspects – in an easy to understand way? How to we make the communication visually engaging as well as inspiring?

Dasra needed an effective and impactful tool that checked all boxes – that’s exactly where Prosperfit stepped in.

Prosperfit’s creative team dived into the challenge. We went through numerous literature, and hours of on-location footages to put together a comprehensive creative strategy.

We the spoke with the municipality representatives, and even visited a several affected sites to build the storyline and visual hooks – ultimately taking a truly unique approach for this informational video – that blended simple vector graphics with rich video footages, overlayed with neat typography and design language.

The result was a video, where an extremely technical topic was metamorphosed into an engaging and action-inspiring video, apt for rallying full attention from of local body audience, and their support for implementing the Pyrolysis Omni Processors in their regions.
